Maimunah: I use jambu flowers as bullets, the bottom is really hard.

Uswa: It's painful... My boy classmate used wet paper as a bullet, he shot my eye! Never forgot his face.

Maimunah is from Tanah Grogot, Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia. Uswa is from Semarang, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.

The bamboo toy guns (lut-hang) in our Home are made by Man Wei, following Liza's guidance. In the online Kampung SayurStory community, many members shared nostalgic memories of playing with these guns in their childhood, using a variety of pellets.

Paying closer attention the the people and plants around her neighbourhood, Man Wei started to mark households that threw out piles of bamboo stem trimmings from time to time. With Liza's help, she started to notice the different thickness of various varieties and the time that fresh cuttings took to dry (and when the best time to cut them was). Whilst trying to make lut-hang, she also made a fresh pair of disposable chopsticks. A tip from Liza for making lut-hang: add a handle or it would look like a bamboo popsicle.
